# Welcome to Cryptoherds

{% hint style="info" %}
**NOTE:** This whitepaper is a living document, it’ll continue to be updated when and where necessary with suggestions and ideas from the team and community as we keep growing and expanding...
{% endhint %}

**Cryptoherds:** Just like the word herd has to do with team/group work. The **cryptoherds** is born from the passion of the saying; **“together we’re always set to win.”**

Imagine animals like hyenas that always move in groups and teams. This enables them to do a lot in unison and are always set to winning.\
\
**Smith and colleagues** report that spotted hyenas do join forces to protect themselves from danger.

They aggregate to defend their food from their natural enemy – the lion, and cooperate during turf battles with neighbouring hyenas.

And, it is easier for spotted hyenas to catch prey when they do so in teams.
