Cryptoherds: Just like the word herd has to do with team/group work. The cryptoherds is born from the passion of the saying; “together we’re always set to win.”
Imagine animals like hyenas that always move in groups and teams. This enables them to do a lot in unison and are always set to winning. Smith and colleagues report that spotted hyenas do join forces to protect themselves from danger.
They aggregate to defend their food from their natural enemy – the lion, and cooperate during turf battles with neighbouring hyenas.
And, it is easier for spotted hyenas to catch prey when they do so in teams.
